Repeat-ability: When launched from a mingw window, abe launches correctly. When done via Start Menu or Shortcut, a “dll not located” error results.

Reason: This and other missing dll errors are a result of cygwin being installed on the system.

Solution: Move MinGW before cygwin in the PATH

Step by Step: (requires Administrator rights)

r-click Computer -> Properties -> Advanced system settings

Advanced tab -> Environment Variables -> System Variables

edit PATH

Cut: C:\MinGW\mingw64\bin;C:\MinGW\mingw64\x86_64-w64-mingw32\lib;C:\MinGW\bin;C:\MinGW\msys\1.0\bin; and paste before any cygwin entries

‘OK’

‘OK’

‘OK’

ABE program should now launch correctly from Start Menu or Shortcut.

Alternate Solution: Uninstall cygwin
